Overview
We all hear lots of talk about cutting out the middleman to save money. When you buy a Brooklyn Bedding mattress, that’s exactly what you do. They manufacture their own mattresses in 145,000 square foot factory. Better yet, they have more than a 20-year track record of satisfied customers. The Brooklyn mattress offers 3 firmness levels. I like a firm mattress so that was what I ordered, but it was a little too firm. I used their 120 return to get a medium and it is as Goldilocks would say “just right”. The Latex Foam sleeps cool and gives full support but still allows for ease of movement. It would be a phenomenal mattress even at a higher price – at its factory-direct-price it’s an incredible deal!
Construction
You have to know something about Latex Foam to appreciate the construction of the Brooklyn mattress. The top layer is 2 full inches of Talalay Latex Foam. This is the most responsive Latex. It gives full support and contours to your body, yet is provides pushback or bounce for ease of motion. Next, there is another 2” layer of Dunlop Latex Foam. This Latex has a slightly different manufacturing process which makes it a bit firmer so that it provides the perfect base for the Talalay. The Dunlop Latex adds to the full-body support and also breathes to keep you cool. The final layer in a Brooklyn mattress is 6” of high-density, convoluted poly foam that gives the mattress durability and strength to support any weight. You have a 10” mattress with 4” of comfortable, cool Latex Foams to give you an unparalleled night’s rest.
The Cover
Pillow top quilting gives the cover of the Brooklyn mattress an even more luxurious feel. It’s breathable cotton to keep the Brooklyn mattress sleeping cool while it adds to the overall comfort of the bed. It’s even quilted in-house so that Brooklyn retains complete control and can stand behind the exceptional quality of their product.
Comfort Level
The choice is yours. The Brooklyn mattress comes in your choice of soft, medium and firm. I originally ordered the firm but found it a bit too firm for me so switched to a medium (using the 120 trial with free return) to get the medium and it was perfect. So, in my opinion, the firm is a firm and medium lands a bit on the firm side of medium. I’ve been told the soft actually falls between very soft and medium, but haven’t tried it.
Satisfaction
You’ve got the longest trial period I’ve found anywhere. Sleep on it for 120 days – just about 4 months – and if you’re not happy trade for a different Brooklyn mattress like I did or get a full refund. There’s no hassle. You don’t have to return the mattress; they take care of it all.
Price
Priced at $750 queen, Brooklyn offers you a superb value – maybe because there really is no middleman.
Final Words
I understand why sleep experts are raving about Latex Foam mattresses. This mattress gives enough sink or cradle so every part of your body feels supported and, yet, you get the pushback and bounce that is necessary (in my mind) to be able to sleep soundly if you change positions in your sleep. I liked dealing with the company who actually made the bed and found my return was exceptionally easy and pleasant. They were definitely concerned that I get the bed that was right for me. The value is excellent and the bed delivers a restful night’s sleep. What more could you want? In my case, a slightly firmer edge, but that’s about all. This bed is a solid A at 94%!
